What inspired you to self build?
We couldn't find a house on the market that suited our family's needs.

The ability to design and build a home that precisely meets your requirements. More house for your money.

Would you build again and, if so, what would you do differently?
It is too soon to answer this question accurately, although the answer would probably be yes! In a few years' time, as the family grows up, our requirements will probably change. There aren't any major things we would do differently.

What have been the advantages of using Simmons for your self build project?
Simmons have been without doubt our best supplier. At the start of the project we chose 3 different builders' merchants and got quotes from each for every item. Simmons were most often the cheapest and certainly offered the best service. Nothing was too much trouble and they took a lot of the burden out of material specification and sourcing.

What would you give as top tips for other prospective self builders?
Learn as much as you can. Plan well. Obtain contractors' quotes for everything. If you are supplying materials, make sure they are on-site at the time / date arranged with your contractor.
